A Seal is an engraving of your Family Crest or Coat of Arms deeply engraved in reverse, or negative. At Thomas Flack Engravers we do this by hand engraving. Once engraved, a wax impression is then taken of the seal engraving. The wax impression appears as a miniature sculpture in positive and is supplied with your Seal Ring or Desk Seal. Usually engraved onto a signet ring of Gold or Gemstone, Seal Rings make a beautiful and timeless gift and Thomas Flack Engravers are Specialists in Heraldic Seal Engraving. Seal Rings are extremely popular even today. Although they are rarely used for impressing wax onto a document, they are worn by family members wishing to proudly wear their Heritage and Family History. All of our seal rings are London Hallmarked in either 9ct or 18ct gold. Because we cut into the metal when engraving, our rings are made of the purest stamped gold enabling us to achieve a high level of detail. The Gemstones for our Stone set Seal Rings are individually chosen for each individual customers ring. The stone is set into the head of the ring to enable a solid gold back.  |
